Ramallah Municipality resumes the activities of "Wein A Ramallah Festival”
Ramallah – Al-Hayat Al-Jadida - Ramallah Municipality has resumed the activities of “Wein A Ramallah” Festival in its 13th edition under the slogan “Music brings us together”, from 21 August 2022 to 25 August 2022. The edition of this year hosts a group of Palestinian bands from all over historical Palestine.
The “Wein A Ramallah” (a lyric about going to Ramallah) Festival seeks to involve the largest number of segments of society in such cultural events organized in the city, without overlooking the patriotic aspects; and also seeks to enhance the affiliation of the citizens to their city and enhance communication with the Palestinians in all parts of Palestine," as affirmed by Issa Kassis, Mayor of Ramallah Municipality. He added that the Municipality seeks through the festival and other events to provide a wide space for culture makers and promote the cultural scene in the city and in Palestine.
Furthermore, Kassis added that the festival is a continuation of Ramallah summer festivals, which the city used to organize in the fifties and sixties of the last century. Unfortunately, these festivals stopped because of the occupation in 1967, causing a disruption of Palestine’s relationship with its Arab surroundings and the world. In 2008, it was revived with the launch of the Ramallah Municipality’s centenary celebrations. He also stressed that the festival, which focuses on performing arts, especially music, takes into account diversity in the scene, the artistic production and the audience of different age groups, significantly contributes to local development and provides platforms for bands and artists to present their work in front of a wide audience directly.
On his part, Mr. Imad al-Hindi, General Manager of the National Beverage Company Coca-Cola/Cappy (NBC) and Al-Tayf Dairy (Candia), said: “The Company’s interest in such cultural and social event as a main sponsor reflects the Company’s endeavor to support vivacious events that advance the cultural and societal reality,” He noted that such mass events constitute a fertile environment for the dissemination of culture and harmony among all segments of the society, especially with the wide participation in the Festival.
Mr. al-Hindi stressed the importance of continuing this festival, which has become an important image and landmark for the cultural city of Ramallah, praising the cooperation with Ramallah Municipality, which is keen on organizing cultural and community events that would promote the Palestinian cultural movement among citizens.
He also explained that the Palestinian private sector plays an important role in supporting these events, which the National Beverage Company Coca-Cola/Cappy and Al-Tayf Dairy and Food Product Company “Candia” were keen on. Further, Al-Hindi pointed out that the company seeks to sponsor cultural and community projects that work to spread cultural and societal concepts and enhance communication between institutions of the community and its various groups.
